TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball improved to 6-4 on the season and 4-1 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference with a win over Franklin College 69-31. Franklin fell to 5-7 and 2-2 in the HCAC.
Jordan Barlow led the offensive attack for the Fightin' Engineers with her second double-double of the season, scoring 17 points and grabbing 14 rebounds on 7-for-11 shooting from the floor.
Jamie Baum chipped in 17 points of her own, shooting 6-for-13, including a 3-for-5 clip from behind the arc.
Rowan Hein added a personal balanced effort with eight points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.
Rose Burnham finished with seven points and seven rebounds,
Mira Randolph added six points, and
Kahlan Jester chipped in five rebounds.
Rose-Hulman's offense got off to a hot start, using a massive 23-0 run over a 13-minute span to build their lead to 33-6. The team shot 69% from the floor, followed by a 44% effort in the second quarter to lead at the halftime buzzer 40-14. That ties for the team's largest lead after the first half in the season (Earlham, December 8).
For the game, RHIT finished shooting 46.3% from fhe field and 33.3% from three-point range. The Rose-Hulman defense held Franklin to their lowest shooting percentage of the season, 10.8% from the field, to key the victory.
