TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 6-3 victory over Franklin College on Saturday at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center.
The Fightin' Engineers started the match quickly by sweeping the three doubles flights.Â
Taylor Goldman and
Wynne Aldrich won 8-6 at the No. 1 flight;Â
Ruby Kauffman and
Julia McGuire rallied from a 7-6 deficit to win 8-7 (8-6) at No. 2 doubles; and
Ella Dorfmueller teamed with
Violet Keith for an 8-5 win at the No. 3 flight.
Rose-Hulman also received victories by Goldman 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles; Aldrich 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles; and Dorfmueller 6-1, 0-6, 10-3 at No. 4 singles.
The Fightin' Engineers have secured at least a top-half of the conference finish with today's result. Rose-Hulman has also clinched no worse than a first round home match in the 6-team HCAC Tournament on Wednesday Oct. 12 with today's result.
Rose-Hulman closes the regular season at league leader Transylvania University on Saturday Oct. 8. The HCAC Tournament takes place Oct. 12, Oct. 15 and Oct. 16.
