GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team advanced to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Semifinals with an 8-1 win over Manchester University on Tuesday afternoon.
The match, moved to DePauw University due to projected rain, featured Rose-Hulman leading 2-1 after doubles.Â
Taylor Goldman and
Wynne Aldrich won 8-7 (7-4) in a tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles, while Ella Dofmueller and
Violet Keith won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play,
Taylor Goldman and
Wynne Aldrich won in straight sets at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles flights.Â
Ruby Kauffman rallied from one set down to win a third set tiebreaker 11-9.Â
Ella Dorfmueller,
Julia McGuire and
Violet Keith added victories at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.
Rose-Hulman improved to 5-2 on the season and advances to the HCAC Tournament Semifinal Round against Anderson University on Saturday at 2 pm. The winner advances to the HCAC Tournament championship match on Sunday at 10 am. The tournament will be played at Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
