BLUFFTON, Ohio -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team improved their unbeaten streak to eleven games with their 3-0 win over Bluffton on Saturday afternoon. The Fightin' Engineers improve to 8-2-3 on the season and 5-0-1 in the HCAC which keeps them in a three-way tie for first place. This seventh consecutive shutout also breaks the school record for most consecutive shutouts. The team also breaks the record for most consecutive minutes without allowing a goal at 686 minutes. The previous record was held by the 2013 team which went 668 minutes without allowing a goal.
The Fightin' Engineers started slow and struggled to find the back of the net early in the game. The lone Rose-Hulman goal came on one of the lone mishaps by the Bluffton defense. The hustle by
Lane Lawrence forced a giveaway off of a pass from
Alexis Willour that Lawrence would slot home in the 17th minute.
The Fightin' Engineers would not score again until the 73rd minute with Lawrence would take a pass from
Camille Clark and score her second of the game to double the lead.
Lauren Marquardt would score in the 80th minute to tack on for Rose-Hulman off of great build-up play from both Lawrence and Clark.
Natalie Dillon made three saves in goal for the Fightin' Engineers en route to her fourth clean sheet of the season.
The Fightin' Engineers will return to the pitch on Wednesday night as they travel to Franklin College for a 7:30 kickoff.
