TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball team picked up a key Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference 4-set volleyball victory over Earlham College on Wednesday night at Hulbert Arena.
Rose-Hulman battled through two tight sets to win 25-21 and 25-23, before Earlham won the third set 25-21. The Fightin' Engineers closed out the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.
Seniors
Elizabeth Canon and
Sophia Harrison were honored prior to the start of the contest, then played a key role in the victory. Canon recorded a team-high 15 kills and three blocks, while Harrison joined
Jillian Gregg with a team-high 26 assists.
Other key contributors for the Fightin' Engineers included
Allie Fults and
Megan Korte with 13 kills each; Gregg with five service aces and four blocks; and Fults with a team-high five blocks.
Defensively,
Lily Ebright recorded a team-high 24 digs. Gregg added 14 digs and
Kylie Rathbun contributed 11 digs.
Rose-Hulman improved to 12-11 and 4-4 in HCAC action, while Earlham dropped to 12-15 and 5-3. The Fightin' Engineers conclude the regular season at Hanover College on Saturday and will look to improve their seeding for next week's 6-team HCAC Tournament.
