TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology ushers in a new era of men's basketball at DePauw on Friday night at 7:00 PM as head coach
Nick Sales makes his Fightin' Engineers debut.
ROSE-HULMAN GAME NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman finished 15-10 last season and has been picked to finish third in the HCAC this season, according to the preseason coaches poll.
* Head coach
Nick Sales is set to make his Rose-Hulman debut. Sales was an associate head coach at Marietta for the past nine seasons where he won seven OAC regular season championships, made three NCAA tournaments, and reached the NCAA Division III Final Four in 2022. Sales was 204-45 on staff at Marietta.

Terry Hicks was named to the all-HCAC second team after averaging 10.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game last season.

Max Chaplin was also named all-HCAC honorable mention following his team-high 11.8 points per game.

Vuk Djuric joins Hicks and Chaplin as the leading returning scorers for the Fightin' Engineers.
Zachary Jackson and
Willie Bowman round out the group of five seniors for Rose-Hulman.
* Rose-Hulman seeks its first HCAC regular season championship since 2018 and its first NCAA Division III Tournament appearance since 2014 this season.
DEPAUW GAME NOTES:
* DePauw is coming off an 11-14 season that resulted in a loss in the NCAC Tournament semifinals to Wooster.
* Rusty Loyd is in his first year as head coach with the DePauw Tigers. Loyd was the head coach at Rose-Hulman from 2014-2022. He would finish with a 120-78 career record that resulted in one regular season conference championship.
* DePauw returns its top three scorers and rebounders with Elijah Hales (18.1, 4.2), Nolan Niego (11.3, 4.5), and Grant Niego (10.2, 4.1).
* The Tigers won their season opener against Anderson 89-81.
* Hales led the Tigers in scoring with 25 points on 9-16 shooting in the opener.
* Ronald Johnson (15), Kyle Lillwitz (15), and Sam Jacobs (10) all added double figures off the bench for the Tigers.
SERIES HISTORY:
* DePauw leads the all-time series 59-45 over the Fightin' Engineers.
* The Tigers have won the last four meetings in the series with each of those meetings being decided by 2, 4, 5, and 6 points.
* The last Rose-Hulman win in the series came in 2015 by a score of 76-67.
* Nine of the last 11 games between these two teams have been decided by single digits.
* The Fightin' Engineers are just 10-24 all-time at DePauw.
