Women's Soccer Ends Record-Breaking Season with 1-0 Loss

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team finished their 2022 season with a 1-0 loss to Ohio Northern in round one of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament at Loras College on Saturday.

The Rose-Hulman defense has been their calling-card all season, and today was no different for the experienced Fightin' Engineers back line.

Ohio Northern came out strong in the first half, outshooting Rose-Hulman 8-1. However, the talented Fightin' Engineers defense made it tough for the Polar Bears to get their looks on target, and Natalie Dillon made saves on both of the shots on goal.

In the second half, Rose-Hulman had a couple more good chances including their lone shot on goal from Grace Hobson. However, Ohio Northern was able to find the back of the net on their final shot of the game in the 83rd minute of action.

Camille Clark led the team in shots with two, and Hobson and Lane Lawrence added one shot each. Natalie Dillon added three saves in the loss.

The Polar Bears outshot Rose-Hulman 15-4, but the margin was just 4-1 in shots on goal.

The Fightin' Engineers end their record-breaking season at 10-3-6 including their third all-time NCAA Tournament berth. During the season, the Fightin' Engineers set school-records with eight consecutive shutouts and 865 minutes without allowing a goal as well as tying the school record for consecutive games without a loss with 16.
