TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team will host the championship game of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament after defeating Manchester University 1-0 in semifinal round action on Wednesday night.
AJ Yilmaz scored his ninth goal of the season to provide the offense in the 1-0 win. Yilmaz scored after a deflected shot by
Takezo Kelly ended up in his direction for his ninth goal of the season.
The Fightin' Engineers controlled play throughout the match, outshooting Manchester 17-5 with an 8-1 edge in shots on goal.
Michael Trinh picked up the shutout in goal to lead the defensive performance.
Caleb Urban matched the Manchester team total with five shots, including four shots on goal. Yilmaz added three shots.
Rose-Hulman increased its streak of matches without a loss to 10 dating back to September.
Rose-Hulman improved to 13-1-3 on the season and will host Hanover College on Saturday at 1 pm for the HCAC championship. Manchester completed the season with a 5-8-5 record. The Fightin' Engineers seek their sixth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and their first since 2015 in Saturday's matchup.
