Volleyball Heads to Transylvania for HCAC Semifinal on Saturday at 2 PM

TERRE HAUTE, Indiana -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball team travels to No. 18 ranked Transylvania University for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinal round on Saturday at 2 pm.  The winner advances to Sunday's 1 pm HCAC championship game against the winner of Mount St. Joseph vs. Earlham.

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman stands at 14-11 on the season after defeating Hanover 3-0 in the HCAC Tournament opening round on Wednesday.
* Rose-Hulman has a 5-4 record in true road matches this season, with conference road wins against Hanover, Bluffton and Defiance.
* Allie Fults (215), Sophia Koop (204) and Megan Korte (202) lead the team in kills.
* Sophia Harrison leads the team in assists with 469, and Jillian Gregg has added 421.
* Harrison leads the team in service aces with 62, and Koop also has 44 service aces on the season.
* Lily Ebright - the 2022 HCAC Defensive Player of the Year - leads Rose-Hulman with 534 digs. Ebright averages 5.80 digs per set on the season.
* Fults also leads the Rose-Hulman defense with 80 blocks this season.
* Both Ebright and Fults were first-team all-HCAC honors.  Ebright also earned a spot on the all-first year team in HCAC volleyball.
* With a win, the Fightin' Engineers would advance to the HCAC championship match.  Rose-Hulman has won 2 HCAC Tournament titles and made 2 NCAA Tournament appearances - in 2011 and 2018.

TRANSYLVANIA NOTES:
* Transylvania stands 23-5 on the year, finished a perfect 9-0 in HCAC play, and is ranked No. 18 nationally by the AVCA this week.
* Transylvania enters the HCAC Tournament on a 14-game winning streak, including defeating WashU and DePauw in straight sets last weekend.
* Transylvania has only lost two total sets since September 23.
* Transylvania won HCAC awards for Player of the Year (Grace Ward), Newcomer of the Year (Isabella Myers) and Coach of the Year (Amy Barmore).
* Team leaders include Cate Scheper (345 kills), Grace Ward (1057 assists and 45 aces), Sylvie Miller (389 digs), Karrington Jackson (63 blocks) and Kayden Holcomb (63 blocks).

SERIES NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman leads Transylvania 13-11 overall.
* Transylvania has won 5 straight matches in the series, including 25-20, 25-15, 25-13 this season.
* Rose-Hulman's last win over Transylvania came by a 3-1 margin in the 2018 HCAC Championship Game.
