TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team hosts #3 Transylvania for their 2022-23 home opener and HCAC opener. The Fightin' Engineers will host the Pioneers on Saturday at 1 PM in Hulbert Arena.
ROSE-HULMAN GAME NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman comes off a strong 2021-22 season after finishing 12-9 overall and 9-5 in HCAC play. The Fightin' Engineers came the closest to knocking off undefeated and eventual Elite Eight qualifier Transylvania during the Pioneers unbeaten regular season, narrowly falling in overtime 72-68.
* The Fightin' Engineers were picked to finish 4th in the HCAC this season, behind Transylvania, Hanover and Bluffton in the league's preseason poll.
* Rose-Hulman opened the season with a pair of wins in Pennsylvania against Penn State-Altoona and Mount Aloysius.
* The Fightin' Engineers were swept last weekend by Wash U and #24 DePauw in the Midwest Challenge.

Jamie Baum has done it all for the Fightin' Engineers this year with 15.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.8 steals.

Nola Wilson and
Mira Randolph have each had big games this year and are averaging 11.8 and 9.5 points per game.
* The Fightin' Engineers will return to action next at home against Earlham on Wednesday, December 7 at 7:30 PM.
TRANSYLVANIA GAME NOTES:
* Transylvania is coming off of a 27-1 season with their one loss coming to Trine in the NCAA Elite Eight round.
* Transylvania was picked as the consensus favorite to win the HCAC title this season.
* The Pioneers come in at 5-0 and 1-0 in the HCAC. They opened the season with a pair of win in Texas against Concordia Texas and UT-Dallas. They also had a pair of wins in their home Invitational against Wilmington and Denison.
* Transylvania opened up HCAC play on Wednesday with a 92-46 win over Franklin College.
* Transylvania is led in scoring by a quartet of seniors who are all averaging double figures. Madison Kellione leads the Pioneers in scoring at 14.8 points per game. Â
*Â Dasia Thornton, the reigning HCAC Player of the Week, averages 13.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per contest. Â Kennedi Stacy (12.6) and Laken Ball (10.6 ppg) also average double figures in scoring.
* The Pioneers have not lost an HCAC game since February 18, 2021.
SERIES HISTORY:
* Transylvania leads the all-time series with Rose-Hulman 24-13.
* The Pioneers have won seven consecutive games going back to the 2018-19 season.
* The Fightin' Engineers won the prior nine meetings from 2016-2018.
* Rose-Hulman has a winning record at 9-8 on their home floor against Transylvania.
