TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball won the last regular season contest to clinch home court for the opening round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. Rose-Hulman defeated Franklin College 86-60 in Hulbert Arena and is set to host Earlham College on Sunday, February 20. The time will be determined late Friday night.
The Fightin' Engineers never trailed in the contest, and
Jackson Kabrick's early jumper gave Rose-Hulman a 4-2 lead that they would never relinquish.
Rose-Hulman continued perhaps the season's most effective offensive performance in the second half, climbing to a 29-point lead before the 86-60 victory.
Dillon Duff led the offense with 18 points.
Terry Hicks recorded 14 points and nine rebounds.
Vuk Djuric finished with 11 points and six rebounds, while
Max Chaplin added 10 points.
Other key contributors include
Isaac Farnsworth with nine points and Kabrick with seven points.
Rose-Hulman finished shooting 56.3% (36-for-64) from the floor, their best percentage of the season. The Engineers held Franklin to 36%, including 20.5% (8-for-39) from behind the arc.
Rose-Hulman completes the regular season at 14-9 and 10-7 in HCAC play. The HCAC Tournament brackets are below. The winner of the 8-team HCAC Tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
