DEFIANCE, Ohio -- Defiance College relied on strong pitching in game one and timely hitting in game two to sweep Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 3-0 and 7-4 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference softball action on Sunday.
In the opener, Taylor Biggs allowed just two hits with four strikeouts in a 3-0 win for Defiance.
MaKenzie Morgan and
Nicole Lang had singles to lead the Rose-Hulman offense.
Ariel Thomasson allowed just two earned runs with seven strikeouts in the complete game effort.
In the nightcap,
Kennedy Michnewicz led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, but Defiance withstood a late Engineer rally in the 7-4 win.
Morgan and
Phoebe Worstell each had one hit and one run for Rose-Hulman in game two. Defiance built a 7-2 lead and the Fightin' Engineers scored twice in the seventh, but the Yellow Jackets recorded the final out to secure the win.
