TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology clinched its first softball winning season since 2015 with a 5-3 and 6-3 doubleheader sweep over Anderson University on Senior Day at the Engineer Softball Field.
Rose-Hulman honored Gabby Davidson prior to her final home game to kick off the festivities. She appeared in 103 career games at Rose-Hulman with seven career doubles and 27 runs scored as a Fightin' Engineer.
On the field, Rose-Hulman relied on a balanced performance in the 5-3 game one victory.
Ariel Thomasson struck out eight hitters and allowed just one earned run in a complete game win in the opener.
MaKenzie Morgan provided the big hit of the day with a 3-run bases loaded double to turn a 1-0 lead into a 4-0 advantage. Nicole Lang and Davidson added doubles for the Fightin' Engineer offense.
In the nightcap, the duo of Phoebe Worstell and Baylee Uhrick held Anderson to five hits with three strikeouts in the 6-3 win. Uhrick picked up the win with 2.2 scoreless innings and one strikeout.
Lang led the offense with three hits, including a double. Hailey Hofmann added a key 2-run single.
Uhrick, Morgan, Ashley Pinkham and Davidson each added one hit, one run and one RBI in the performance.
Rose-Hulman completes the season with an 18-11 record to double its 2021 win total. The Fightin' Engineers also won five of their final six games, all in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The Engineers put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the fourth inning. Rose-Hulman's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a three-run double off the bat of Morgan. The Engineers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning. Rose-Hulman got on the board thanks to Pinkham's RBI double with one out.
The Ravens failed to push any runs across before the Engineers offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Rose-Hulman scored once on an RBI single off the bat of junior MaKenzie Morgan, which brought the score to 2-0 in favor of the Engineers.
Rose-Hulman's lead had disappeared once the fifth inning arrived and turned into a 3-2 Anderson (IN) advantage, when the Engineers re-took control at 6-3. The Engineers bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a two-run single off the bat of Hofmann. The score remained 6-3 for the rest of the game, as Rose-Hulman held on for the win.
