KOKOMO, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology eliminated both Hanover College and Anderson University on Friday at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament at Kokomo Municipal Stadium.
In the opener, Rose-Hulman defeated Hanover 14-6. In the nightcap, the Fightin' Engineers defeated Anderson 8-5.
With the two wins, Rose-Hulman remains alive in the HCAC Baseball Tournament. The Fightin' Engineers will face Franklin at 11:30 am on Saturday, with the winner advancing to face Earlham College in the HCAC Tournament Championship Round 45 minutes after the completion of game one.
In the opener, Rose-Hulman pounded out 14 hits in a 14-6 victory over Hanover.
Andy Krajecki led the offensive effort with two hits, including a home run. Manuel Lopez added two hits with three RBIs and his 17th double of the season.
Other multi-hit performers in game one included Brett Tuttle with two singles and three runs scored; Adam Taylor with two singles, two runs scored and one RBI; and Shane Garner with two hits, including a double, and one run scored and two RBIs.
Korey Marlow improved to 4-0 with a strong pitching performance out of the bullpen. Marlow tossed 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit with five strikeouts to pick up the victory.
In the nightcap, Josh Mesenbrink and Colter Couillard-Rodak had three hits each to lead another 14-hit attack in an 8-5 win over Anderson.
Couillard-Rodak blasted a home run and had three RBIs, and Mesenbrink had three singles with two runs scored to power the offense.
Tuttle added two hits and two runs scored; Krajecki had a single and a double with one RBI; and Harrison Finch added two doubles with one run scored and one RBI. Taylor added his first home run of the season to balance the offense.
Schuyler Wilcox picked up the win with a 5-inning stint out of the bullpen, allowing just two runs with three strikeouts.
Rose-Hulman improved to 27-12 on the season. The HCAC Championship Round includes one game Saturday featuring Earlham and the winner of Rose-Hulman vs. Franklin. Sunday would feature a winner-take-all championship game if Earlham loses the Saturday contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Engineers were trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Rose-Hulman's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a two-run single off the bat of Couillard-Rodak and a two-run home run from Taylor.
The Engineers then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the sixth inning after the Ravens cut it to 4-3. Rose-Hulman pushed across a run on senior Harrison Finch's two-out RBI double, which brought the Engineers lead to 5-3.
Rose-Hulman kept Anderson (IN) without a run before expanding their lead to 8-3 the following inning. Anderson (IN) put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Rose-Hulman still held on for the 8-5 win.
