TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with an 8-1 victory over Manchester University on Wednesday at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center.
The Fightin' Engineers won all six of their singles matches, including a pair of third set super tiebreakers, to earn the victory.
Taylor Goldman and
Wynne Aldrich won in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, after combining for a win at No. 1 doubles.Â
Ella Dorfmueller and
Violet Keith also won in straight sets at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, after combining for a win at No. 3 doubles.
Ruby Kauffman and
Julia McGuire added 3-set victories at No. 3 and No. 5 singles. Kauffman rallied from a 2-5 deficit to win the first set 7-5, then won the super tiebreak 10-7. McGuire won the second set 6-2 and the super tiebreaker 10-2.
Rose-Hulman improved to 2-0 on the season and 2-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action, while Manchester dropped to 0-2 in league play. The Fightin' Engineers travel to Anderson University next Wednesday at 4 pm for another HCAC matchup.
