ANDERSON, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team battled back from an early 3-0 deficit to put a battle at Anderson University, before narrowly falling 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon.
Julia McGuire highlighted the rally with a marathon win at No. 5 singles. McGuire won the first set 7-6 (7-4), dropped the second set 7-6 (7-4) and won the third set super tiebreak 13-11 to highlight the individual performances.
Taylor Goldman added a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles,
Wynne Aldrich won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2 singles, and
Violet Keith claimed a 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles as part of the late rally.
Anderson improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 2-1 and 2-1 in league matches. The Fightin' Engineers return to action on Saturday at Hanover College.
