TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team improved to 3-1 on the season with a 5-4 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference road win at Hanover College on Saturday afternoon.
The Fightin' Engineers relied on sweeping the doubles victories to pick up the 5-4 win.
Taylor Goldman and
Wynne Aldrich won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles;
Ruby Kauffman and
Julia McGuire won 8-7 with a 7-0 victory in the tiebreaker; and
Ella Dorfmueller and
Violet Keith won 8-5 at the No. 3 flight.
In singles play, Goldman and Aldrich swept straight set wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions to secure the five points needed for Rose-Hulman to clinch the match.
Rose-Hulman improved to 3-1 on the season and in HCAC play with the win. The Fightin' Engineers return to action at home next Saturday against Franklin College at 12 pm.
