TERRE HAUTE, Indiana -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team travels to Hanover for their fourth HCAC match of the season. The Fightin' Engineers come in at 2-1 in conference while Hanover sits at 1-1.
ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman has picked up two convincing HCAC wins with a 9-0 win over Earlham and 8-1 over Manchester.
* The Fightin' Engineers dropped their match at Anderson on Wednesday 5-4.
Taylor Goldman,
Wynne Aldrich,
Julia McGuire, and
Violet Keith all won their singles matches.
* Goldman, Aldrich, McGuire, and Keith all remain unbeaten in singles on the season.
* Goldman is a 2-time 1st-team all-HCAC selection and was named 2020 HCAC Newcomer of the Year. Goldman has a career singles record of 17-4.
* Rose-Hulman was picked to finish fourth in conference with Hanover being picked to finish third, so this match will more than likely decide the #3 seed in the HCAC tournament.
* After Saturday, the Fightin' Engineers will host Franklin at 12:00 on next Saturday, October 1.
HANOVER NOTES:
* Hanover comes in at 1-2 on the season with a win over Manchester and losses to Adrian and Transylvania.
* Hanover beat Manchester 7-2 with losses at #2 and #3 singles while Rose-Hulman beat Manchester 8-1 with the lone loss coming at #2 doubles.
* The Hanover #1 singles is Laila Leist-Alton who is a graduate transfer from Quincy University, a Division 2 school. She is 3-0 on the season.
* Lyla Waskom is the lone other Panthers' singles player to have two wins on the season.
SERIES NOTES:
* Hanover leads the all-time series with Rose-Hulman 18-9.
* Hanover won the match last season by a score of 5-4.
* The Fightin' Engineers got wins at #1 doubles with Goldman and Brenna Rogers as well as singles with Goldman, Kauffman, and McGuire in that match.
* The Panthers have won 5 of the last 6 meetings and 13 of the last 15 meetings.
