ANDERSON, Ind. -- Anderson University relied on a key second half spurt to pull away from a close matchup and earn an 69-55 men's basketball victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Wednesday at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
Rose-Hulman trimmed the margin to 40-38 on a field goal by
Kobe Stoudemire with 15:38 left in the contest. Anderson responded with the next 16 points to push the lead to 56-38 and secure the victory.
Rose-Hulman had its 4-game winning streak snapped in Wednesday's loss. The Fightin' Engineers remain tied for second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings, two games behind Anderson.
Tate Ivanyo led the Ravens balanced scoring attack with 16 points. Bryson Huckeby scored 15 points, and Elijah Mattingly added 12 points for the Ravens.
Max Chaplin led the Rose-hulman offense with 17 points.Â
Kobe Stoudemire added 8 points, and
Terry Hicks scored 7 points.Â
Miles McGowen added 12 rebounds to provide inside depth.
Anderson relied on a strong defensive effort throughout the contest, holding the Fightin' Engineers to just 33% shooting in the game.
Anderson improved to 10-6 overall and 7-1 in HCAC play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 9-7 and 6-3 in league games. The Fightin' Engineers return to action at Transylvania University on Saturday at 1 pm.
