Fightin' Engineers Roll Past Hanover in Competitive Matchup

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- Rose-Hulman football hosted Hanover College on Saturday in HCAC action. The team came away with a competitive victory defeating the Panthers with a final of 44-39. This advances the team to 6-2 overall and 5-0 in the HCAC. 

Jailen Hobbs had an exceptional day with his fourth game of the season recording over 100 yards receiving. He ended the day with 115 yards receiving with two touchdowns. Daniel Huery followed him with 10 catches for 95 yards. 

Miguel Robertson finished the day 22 for 34 with 248 yards through the air and three touchdowns. Grant Ripperda led the ground attack with 31 rushes for 114 yards and two touchdowns. 

Defensively the Engineers had two players reach double figures in tackles. Jacob Fields led the team with 12 and Adam Field followed him with 10. Cameron Dorsey and Marshall Koch led the team with two tackles for loss. 

Rose-Hulman got off to a strong start with a 35-yard field goal by Jonathan Oliger and a two-yard rushing touchdown by Ripperda to jump ahead 10-0 at the end of the first quarter. 

The Engineers continued to control the pace putting up three more scores to stand ahead 30-13 at the end of the first half. 

Hobbs started the fourth quarter with an 84-yard punt return for a touchdown. This is the third longest punt return for a touchdown in Rose-Hulman history. This put the Engineers up 44-20 with 12:30 left in the fourth quarter. 

Hanover put up a fight scoring 19 unanswered points to cut the lead to just five points with 55 seconds remaining in the game. The Engineers held off the Panthers comeback attempt to claim the win in a close contest. 

Rose-Hulman will return to action on the road facing Defiance College on Saturday, 11/4 at 1:30 PM.
