TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers continued their conference schedule hosting Anderson University on Wednesday night. The Engineers earned the win over the Ravens with a final of 1-0 to advance to 4-2-4 overall this season and 2-1 in the HCAC.
The team celebrated National Girls and Women's in Sports Day inviting multiple young women from the community to tonights match. The young fans were able to join them on the pitch during the pregame and national anthem and participate in a penalty kick contest at halftime. After the match, the Rose-Hulman soccer team stuck around to sign autographs for their fans.
The Fightin' Engineers dominated the play of the game as they outshot the Ravens 22-4 including 14 shots in the second half for Rose-Hulman.
They were finally able to break the scoreless draw in the 60th minute as a cross fell directly to
Lauren Marquardt in point blank range in front of the goal, and she was able to tap it in for the 1-0 lead.
Jayden Gibson and
Kiana Martin each earned assists on the goal.
Lily Doré made just one save in goal for the Fightin' Engineers, but she made several great plays and took a beating as she earned the clean sheet.
The team will continue HCAC play at home hosting Defiance College on Saturday, October 7 at 1PM.
