TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers football team hosted Mount St. Joseph University in the HCAC title game on Saturday. The Engineers suffered a loss to the Lions with a final score of 68-20.

Before the game, the team took the time to honor their seniors. Andrew Toler, Chaikou Sow, Daniel Huery, Jailen Hobbs, Grant Ripperda, Cameron Dorsey, Ryan Schmidt, Miguel Robertson, Brandon Green, Chase Wilkinson, Christian Meyer, Cristian Argueta, Payton Gryniewicz, Harrison Wight, Isaac Wanninger, Riley Lopian, Joseph Bueno, Kenneth Gipson, Justin Pierson, Chris Schletz, Ethan Swanner, and Jakey Ovanic were all recognized by their friends and family for their dedication the the Rose-Hulman football program.

Miguel Robertson led the team with 294 yards passing and two touchdowns. Grant Ripperda had a successful day on the ground totaling 93 yards rushing with one touchdown. Brandon Green had an exceptional day leading the team with 143 yards receiving and one touchdown.

Defensively, the team was led by Chaikou Sow with 15 tackles. He was followed by Marshall Koch with nine tackles, while Wyatt Bell and Riley Lopian recorded eight each.

Mount forced a punt on the Engineers first drive and took the upper hand from there. After a touchdown by the Lions, Rose-Hulman answered with a six play, 75-yard drive finished by a 19-yard touchdown pass from Robertson to Daniel Huery

After another Mount score, Robertson connected with Green for an 81-yard touchdown reception. After a missed extra point the score stood 13-14 with the Lions ahead. The Engineers struggled to keep up with the explosive offense of the Lions as the team fell to a large deficit before the half with the score at 13-34.

The Lions continued to control the game in the second half. Ripperda was able to reach the goal line on a five yard run in the fourth quarter, but it would not be enough to get Rose back in the game as the Lions would walk away with the HCAC title.

The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers end the 2023 season with an overall record of 7-3 and an HCAC record of 6-1.
