Men's Soccer Takes on Manchester in HCAC Championship Game

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team travels to North Manchester, Indiana to take on the Manchester Spartans in the 2023 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship game. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers enter the HCAC title game at 11-5-3 on the season.
* The team earned a come from behind victory over Bluffton University in the opening round of the HCAC Tournament on Saturday with a final score of 2-1.
* The Fightin' Engineers took down Hanover in penalty kicks on Wednesday to advance to the HCAC title game.
Caleb Urban is the Fightin' Engineers all-time career assists leader with 33, and he leads the team and the HCAC with nine assists this season.
* Urban also ranks fifth in the conference, leading the team with 23 points.
Tyler Eldridge is 4th in the HCAC in assists with 6, and Chase Kedzior and Peter Borger are tied for 8th with 4.
Connor Patton leads the team offensively with eight goals this year which ranks 6th in the HCAC. Patton also ranks second in the HCAC with four game-winning goals this season.
* Owen Trudt and Urban are tied for 8th in the HCAC in goals with 7 this season.
John Biederstedt is tied for the HCAC lead with nine clean sheets this season. He also ranks 2nd in goals against average at 0.813.
* The Fightin' Engineers have given up just four goals in their last 11 games, and only two of those four goals came against the run of play.
* With a win, the Fightin' Engineers will earn their spot in the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second consecutive season. Rose-Hulman has not made back-to-back NCAA Tournaments since their run of three straight from 2013-2015.

MANCHESTER NOTES:
* Manchester comes into the HCAC Championship game at 10-0-8 and HCAC Regular Season champions.
* The Spartans have drawn their last two games, coming from down 1-0 to draw both Bluffton and Transylvania.
* Manchester is 2-0-5 at Spartan Stadium this season.
* Only two Manchester players have scored more than 2 goals this season with Harley Kruschwitz (18) and Cory Mitchell (13). The duo are ranked 1st and 2nd in goals in the HCAC.
* Mitchell and Noah Black are ranked 5th in the HCAC in assists with 5.
* Aaron Ketchmark leads the HCAC in goals against average with 0.768 and shutouts with nine.
* This is the Spartans' fourth appearance in the HCAC Championship game and the first since 2007. The Spartans have never won an HCAC Tournament.

SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series 27-5-5 over the Spartans.
* Manchester picked up the win earlier in the season 1-0 at Spartan Stadium. The Fightin' Engineers outshot the Spartans 10-4 in the game and led 5-1 in shots on goal.
* Kole Williams scored his first career goal in the 52nd minute for the game-winner.
* Rose-Hulman had won five straight meetings and 12 of the last 13 prior to their loss earlier this season
* This is just the third all-time meeting between Rose-Hulman and Manchester in the HCAC Tournament. Rose-Hulman won 1-0 in the 2022 HCAC Semifinals, and Manchester won in penalty kicks in the 2007 HCAC Semifinals.
