TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology football team will travel to face Defiance College on Saturday, 11/4 at 1:30 PM.  

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman enters this week at 6-2 overall and 5-0 in the HCAC.
* The Fightin' Engineers held off a fourth quarter comeback attempt by the Hanover Panthers to claim the win last week with a final score of 44-39.
* Marshall Koch was named HCAC Defensive Athlete of the Week recording two takeaways with an interception and a fumble recovery in the win over Hanover. 
* Jailen Hobbs was named HCAC Special Team Athlete of the Week and received D3football.com Team of the Week honors. 
* Hobbs recorded the third-most all-purpose yards in a single game in all of Division III this season with 320 yards. 
* He totaled six catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns, 100 punt return yards, and 115 kick return yards. 
* Hobbs' 84-yard punt return was the third-longest punt return in school history and the sixth-longest in Division III this season.
* Hobbs leads the team and the league with 869 receiving yards and 12 receiving touchdowns. 
* Hobbs is the reigning 2-time HCAC Special Teams Player of the Year after leading the league in kickoff return and punt return average last season, and he is coming off an All-American season in 2022 as he became the first two-sport All-American in school history in track and football. He was the first HCAC Athlete of the Year in school history in 2022-23.
* Grant Ripperda (817) and Jay Smith (497) rank 2nd and 5th in the HCAC in rushing yards this season, and they are 3rd and 4th respectively in rushing touchdowns with 8 and 7.
* Miguel Robertson ranks second in the HCAC with 1895 passing yards and 22 touchdowns averaging 236.9 yards per game. 
* Kyle Rehberg leads the HCAC in field goals made (9) and ranks 6th with 61 points scored.
* Marshall Koch, Jakey Ovanic, and Adam Field all rank top-10 in the HCAC in tackles this season.
* Koch ranks 9th in the HCAC with 7.5 tackles for loss this season.
* Payton Gryniewicz ranks 8th in the HCAC in sacks with 4 and also ranks 9th with 7.5 tackles for a loss.
* Stephon Pugh and Adam Field are two of the 18 HCAC players with multiple interceptions this season.
* Andrew Toler leads the HCAC in yards per punt at 44.2.
* Toler earned preseason All-American honors from The CFB Network. He was a 1st-team all-HCAC punter in 2022, and he has been named the HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week twice this season.
* Daniel Huery earned preseason All-American recognition from D3football.com. He was a 2nd-Team all-Region honoree and a 1st-team all-HCAC honoree in 2022.
* Jeff Sokol is serving in his 13th year at Rose-Hulman with a career record of 82-42 and the top winning percentage in program history at .661. Sokol has led Rose-Hulman to three HCAC titles and NCAA Playoff appearances in 2016 and 2021.
* Rose-Hulman will return home to host Mount St. Joseph University for the HCAC Championship Game and Senior Day on Saturday, 11/11 at 1:30 PM.

DEFIANCE NOTES:
* Defiance enters the game with a record of 4-4 overall and 3-2 in the HCAC. 
* The team has won their last two games defeating Anderson University 36-6, and Manchester 51-27.
* Jordan Ambrose leads the team at Quarterback recording 1319 passing yards and 11 touchdowns. 
* Tyshaun Freeman is the team's leading rusher with 744 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. 
* Tawann Rome leads the receiving core with 30 catches for 343 yards and one touchdown.
* He is followed by Jalen Warren with 24 catches for 364 yards and three receiving touchdowns. 
* Thomas Coltrain leads the defense with 67 tackles. 
* He is followed by Dominic Harris and Richard Pope IV who both lead the team with 12.5 tackles for loss. 
* The Defiance Yellow Jackets are led by head coach Bill Nickell in his second season with the team. Nickell has a career record of 7-11 overall with Defiance. 
* After facing the Engineers, Defiance will host Bluffton University in the final game of the season on Saturday, 11/11 at 1:30 PM.
