Football Hosts Mt. St. Joseph in HCAC Championship Game on Senior Day

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology football team will host the Mount St. Joseph Lions on Saturday at 1:30 PM for the HCAC Championship game. Rose-Hulman will also honor their 22 seniors prior to the game.

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman enters this week at 7-2 overall and 6-0 in the HCAC.
* The Fightin' Engineers put up an offensive explosion last week with a 78-54 win over Defiance.
* Grant Ripperda etched his name into the Rose-Hulman record book with 38 carries (10th most in school history), 226 rushing yards (fourth in school history), and five rushing touchdowns (tied for most in school history) to be named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.
* Jailen Hobbs also earned D3football.com Team of the Week honors after he returned a 79-yard punt back for a touchdown. Hobbs tallied 130 punt return yards on 3 returns, and he currently sits at 290 punt return yards on the season which puts him 36 yards away from breaking the single-season record for punt return yards.
* Hobbs also has two of the ten longest punt return touchdowns in Division III on the year with returns of 79 and 82 yards.
* Hobbs leads the HCAC in both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns this season with 895 and 12.
* Grant Ripperda (1,043) and Jay Smith (610) rank 2nd and 4th in the HCAC in rushing yards this season, and they are 3rd and 4th respectively in rushing touchdowns with 13 and 9.
* Ripperda's 1,000 yard season makes him just the second player to reach that mark in the last 12 years.
* Miguel Robertson ranks second in the HCAC with 2,087 passing yards and 25 touchdowns. He leads the HCAC in Passing Efficiency at 168.9.
* Kyle Rehberg leads the HCAC with 9 field goals made and 71 points scored.
* Marshall Koch, Jakey Ovanic, and Adam Field all rank top-10 in the HCAC in tackles this season.
* Koch ranks 9th in the HCAC with 8.5 tackles for loss this season.
* Payton Gryniewicz ranks 6th in the HCAC in sacks with 5.5 and also ranks 8th with 9.0 tackles for a loss.
* Stephon Pugh and Adam Field are two of the 20 HCAC players with multiple interceptions this season.
* Andrew Toler leads the HCAC in yards per punt at 44.6.
* Jeff Sokol is serving in his 13th year at Rose-Hulman with a career record of 84-42 and the top winning percentage in program history at .667. Sokol has led Rose-Hulman to three HCAC titles and NCAA Playoff appearances in 2016 and 2021.
* With a win, Rose-Hulman will advance to their second NCAA Tournament in the last three seasons.

MOUNT ST. JOSEPH NOTES:
* The Lions come into the final game of the season at 8-1 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in the HCAC.
* The lone loss this season came to Hope, 40-35, back on September 16.
* Mt. St. Joseph has scored at least 49 points in every conference game this season.
* Their closest conference game of the year came last week in the 49-27 win over Bluffton.
* Josh Taylor has been lights out with 2,523 passing yards and 39 passing touchdowns in 9 games this season.
* Mariano McKenzie leads the Lions on the ground this season with 524 yards and 4 touchdowns.
* They have had 9 different players record a rushing touchdown this season and have 24 as a team.
* DeShawn Starks leads the Lions with 7 interceptions this season.
* With a win, the Lions would win their third HCAC Regular season title in the last six years. Mount St. Joseph advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2022 where they fell to Alma in the opening round.
