TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman men's basketball team opens their 2023-24 season at home against the DePauw University Tigers at 7:30 PM on Friday night.
ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman has been picked to finish fifth in this year's HCAC Preseason Poll receiving 50 points.
* The team is led by second year head coach
Nick Sales.
* The Engineers made it all the way to the HCAC Championship game last season before falling to Anderson University in the HCAC title game.
* Last season's team compiled a record of 17-11 overall and 12-6 in the HCAC.
*
Miles McGowen earned First Team All-HCAC breaking the school record for offensive rebounds (84) and offensive rebounds per game (3.1).
* McGowen is the leading returner averaging 13.4 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game.
* He also led the team with 23 blocks last season.
* Other notable returners include
Bradley Harden,
Kobe Stoudemire, and
Simon Blair.
* After hosting DePauw, the team will travel to face Wooster on Friday, 11/17 at 8 PM in the Wooster Invitational.
DEPAUW NOTES:
* DePauw currently stands at 0-1 overall after dropping their season opener to the Anderson University Ravens with a final score of 63-79.
* Sam Jocobs led the team with four assists and 16 points shooting a perfect two for two from beyond the arc.
* Brady Kunka led the team with six rebounds in the contest.
* DePauw has been selected to finish fourth in the NCAC this season receiving 51 points in the preseason poll.
* The team is led by second year head coach Rusty Loyd.
* After facing the Engineers, the Tigers will travel to Northern Kentucky for an exhibition game.
SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman trails DePauw in the all-time series with a record of 45-60 against the Tigers.
* The Tigers have won the last five meetings between the two teams dating back to the 2017-18 season.
* DePauw picked up the win last season with a final score of 75-80.
* The last time Rose-Hulman defeated the Tigers was in 2015 with a final score of 76-67.
