Women's Volleyball Takes on #17 Transylania in HCAC Semifinals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's volleyball team will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio for the HCAC Semifinals and Finals this weekend. The Fightin' Engineers will take on #17 Transylvania on Saturday at 5 PM. With a win, they will advance to the HCAC Championship on Sunday at 1 PM.

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman comes into the HCAC Semifinals at 15-13 on the season after a sixth place finish in the HCAC.
* The Fightin' Engineers eliminated the Hanover Panthers in the opening round of the tournament for the second year in a row with a 4-set win on Wednesday.
Lily Ebright currently leads the team and the conference with 6.68 digs per set which ranks #3 in the nation. She leads the conference by 1.66 digs per set.
* Ebright tied her career-high with 38 digs in Wednesday's win over Hanover. The 38 digs ranked as the fourth-most in school history for a 4-set match.
Kate Wood leads the team and ranks 12th in the conference with 226 kills so far this season.
Allie Fults is the Fightin' Engineers star at the net leading the team and ranking second in the conference with 100 total blocks. She leads the conference and the team ranking 11th in the nation with 32 solo blocks this year, and she recorded her 100th career solo block in Wednesday's win.
Jillian Gregg is the standout setter leading Rose-Hulman and ranking third in the HCAC with 648 assists. She also ranks second in the conference with 46 service aces. 
Sophia Koop ranks fifth in the conference with 41 service aces. 
* With a win, Rose-Hulman will advance to the HCAC Championship game for the first time since 2018 when they advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

TRANSYLVANIA NOTES:
* Transylvania comes in at 23-6 on the season after a 2nd place finish in the HCAC.
* The Pioneers have won 15 of their last 16 games with the lone loss coming to Mount St. Joseph.
* Grace Ward leads the Pioneers as the HCAC Player of the Year this year. She led the conference with 1,116 assists, and she ranked 4th with 44 service aces.
* Ava Beltsos is 5th in the HCAC in digs with 423.
* Two Pioneers rank in the top-7 of the HCAC in blocks including Kayden Holcomb (74) and Jasmine Koonce (65).
* Holcomb also leads the HCAC in hitting percentage at 0.366 and ranks 3rd with 299 kills on the season.
* Cate Scheper leads the conference with 336 kills.
* The Pioneers look to return to the HCAC Championship game for the sixth consecutive season with a win on Saturday. Transylvania has appeared in the last four NCAA Tournaments, including their run to the Elite 8 in 2022.

* The all-time series between Rose-Hulman and Transylvania is tied 13-13.
* The Pioneers have won the last seven matchups with the Fightin' Engineers over the last five seasons.
* Rose-Hulman won the previous eight matchups from 2014-2018.
* The Fightin' Engineers are 4-3 all-time against Transylvania in the HCAC Tournament including their last win over the Pioneers in the 2018 HCAC Championship match.
