Jailen Hobbs Named First AFCA All-American in School History

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology student-athlete Jailen Hobbs has received AFCA First Team All-America honors for his efforts during this year's football season.

Hobbs becomes just the second football player to earn First Team All-American honors in Rose-Hulman history since 1992. This is his third All-American recognition after receiving D3football.com Fourth Team All-American in 2022, and All-American honors in track & field with a fourth place finish in the 100-Meter Dash in 2023. 

Hobbs had an incredible senior season for the Fightin' Engineers. He was named the HCAC Special Teams Player of the Year for the third consecutive year. He totaled 290 punt return yards for and average of 22.3 yards per return. He also recorded 305 kick return yards for 21.8 yards per return.

He returned two punts for touchdowns this season bringing his career total to four to break the career school record for punt returns for touchdowns. Hobbs also holds the career record for punt return yards with 844. 

Hobbs made an impact as a wide receiver for the Fightin' Engineers as well. He led the team with 982 yards receiving with 12 touchdowns to earn First Team All-HCAC this season. Hobbs finished the year ranked 17th in receiving yards and 24th in receiving touchdowns in all of NCAA DIII.

His 982 yards and 12 touchdowns ranks third most in a single season for both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in school history.

Hobbs was an explosive weapon for the Fightin' Engineers who finished the season with a record of 7-3 overall and 6-1 in the HCAC. He led the conference in total receiving yards, receiving yards per game, punt return yards, and punt returns for touchdowns.
