TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team host the Transylvania Pioneers in the opening round of the 2023 HCAC Men's Basketball Tournament. The Fightin' Engineers are seeking their first HCAC Tournament title since their three-peat from 2012 to 2014. The Pioneers will look to win their second HCAC Tournament title in four years.

HCAC TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE:
Sun, 2/19 - #6 Franklin at #3 Hanover - 4 PM
Sun, 2/19 - #5 Transylvania at #4 Rose-Hulman - 4 PM
Fri, 2/24 - TRANSY/RHIT at #1 Manchester- 5 or 7 PM
Fri, 2/24 - FC/HC vs #2 Anderson (at Manchester) - 5 or 7 PM
Sat, 2/25 - Championship Game (at Manchester) - 6 PM

ROSE-HULMAN (15-10, 12-6 HCAC) GAME NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman comes in at 8-3 at home on the season with their losses coming to Hanover, Anderson, and Wabash.
* The Fightin' Engineers have won six of their last seven games with the lone loss coming to Anderson on Tuesday.
* Rose-Hulman is coming off a 73-71 win over Franklin on Friday night to close out the regular season on a tip-in by Miles McGowen.
* Max Chaplin leads the team with 14.3 points per game. He recorded his career high of 26 points in the win over Defiance earlier this season. He has scored in double figures in 12 straight games including 25 points in Friday's win over Franklin.
* Miles McGowen also averages double figures with 12.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game with seven double-doubles. He led the team last Saturday with 24 points and 15 rebounds in the win over Defiance.
* Willie Bowman, Bradley Harden, Kobe Stoudemire have been lights out from three, shooting a combined 110-242 (45.5%) this season.
* Terry Hicks and Harden are each just shy of double figures at 9.8 and 9.4 points per game this season. 
* Bowman leads the team in the last five games averaging 18.8 points per game. He added a career-high 26 points in the win over Bluffton. He also led the team with 19 points in Tuesday night's loss to Anderson and added 16 points in Friday's win over Franklin.
* Nick Sales is completing his first year at Rose-Hulman. Sales was associate head coach at Marietta for the past nine seasons where he won seven OAC regular season championships, made three NCAA tournaments, and reached the NCAA Division III Final Four in 2022. Sales was 204-45 on staff at Marietta.
* With a win, Rose-Hulman will advance to the HCAC Semifinal round next weekend at Manchester. The Fightin' Engineers would take on the Manchester Spartans on Friday at 5 PM with the Championship game on Saturday at 6 PM.

TRANSYLVANIA (14-11, 11-7 HCAC) GAME NOTES:
* Franklin comes in at 14-11 on the season and 11-7 in the HCAC which earned the 5-seed in the HCAC Tournament.
* Transylvania ended the season in a rough stretch with losses to Anderson and Hanover. The Pioneers did get back to their winning ways on Friday night with a win over Earlham, 78-69.
* The Pioneers are just 5-7 on the road this season with wins over Oglethorpe, Bluffton, Defiance, Mount St. Joseph, and Earlham.
* Junior guard Jaylan Green leads the Pioneers with 14.1 points per game this season. He scored 18 in their home win over Rose-Hulman earlier this season.
* Sophomore guard Colby Napier also averages double figures at 13.9 points per game. Napier scored 33 in their win over Earlham on Friday.
* The Pioneers also have a trio of forwards including Matthew Teague, Hunter Penn, and Simon Smith that are averaging over nine points per game.

SERIES HISTORY:
* Transylvania leads the all-time series 25-15.
* The two teams split their season series this year with both teams winning at home. Rose-Hulman won 74-59, and Transylvania won 67-65 on a last-second shot by Jaylan Green.
* Rose-Hulman has won three of the last four against the Pioneers.
* Transylvania won five games in a row during the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons.
* The Fightin' Engineers are 8-8 all-time at home against the Pioneers, but they have won 6 of the last 9.

* Miles McGowen currently ranks 1st in single-season offensive rebounds (78) and 1st in single-season offensive rebounds per game (3.1).
* Max Chaplin currently ranks 8th in career three-point field goal attempts (348) and 10th in career three-point field goals (125).
* Bradley Harden currently ranks 9th in single-season three-point % at 47.0% (31-66).
* Kobe Stoudemire currently ranks 14th in single-season three-point % at 45.3% (34-75).
* Terry Hicks currently ranks 14th in offensive rebounds per game (1.4).
