Men's Tennis Hosts Weekend Doubleheader with Goshen and Trine

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis season continues their 2023 spring season with a pair of weekend home matches. The Fightin' Engineers host NAIA Goshen on Saturday at 11 AM, and they host Trine on Sunday at 11 AM.

ROSE-HULMAN MEN'S TENNIS NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman comes into the match at 5-5 on the season with wins over a trio of MIAA teams including Albion, Adrian, and Calvin as well as a neutral court win over MSOE on Sunday.
* The Fightin' Engineers defeated MSOE 5-4 on Sunday afternoon with wins at #1 doubles and #1-4 singles. Owen Reynolds and Rhian Seneviratne each picked up two wins in the match.
* Grant Paradowski and Seneviratne lead the team with eight wins at #2 and #3 singles.
* Reynolds and Seneviratne to lead the team in doubles wins with seven following their win on Sunday.
* Rose-Hulman enters the season with 7 consecutive HCAC Tournament championships dating to 2015.
* The Fightin' Engineers have appeared in 7 straight NCAA Division III men's tennis tournaments entering the 2023 season.
* Rose-Hulman enters the season with a 57-1 record in its last 58 matches against HCAC competition.
* The Fightin' Engineers return 2 all-HCAC players (Reynolds and Paradowski) from the 2022 season.  The returnees also include Seneviratne, an honorable mention all-HCAC selection.
* Rose-Hulman enters the season under the direction of first-year head coach Greg Couch.  Couch comes to Rose-Hulman with 5 seasons of college head coaching experience at NAIA Roosevelt University in Chicago.

GOSHEN NOTES:
* Goshen comes into the match at 6-6 on the season with a 5-3 finish in the Crossroads League in the fall.
* The Maple Leafs took down Bethel 5-2 in the conference play, a team the Fightin' Engineers fell to 0-7 on their spring trip.
* Goshen picked up a big 4-3 win this fall over #3 Indiana Wesleyan.
* Felipe Gallo and Mario Gomez lead the Maple Leafs at #2 and #5 singles with 11 and 12 wins.
* Kevin Bollman and Pedro Scattolon lead Goshen with 12 and 10 doubles wins on the season.
* Goshen will finish their 2022-23 season on April 22 as they host Bethel.

TRINE NOTES:
* Trine comes into the match at 5-3 with losses in their last three matches.
* The Thunder opened the season with a perfect 4-0 fall beating Manchester, Franklin, Webster, and Anderson.
* Trine was just 1-3 on their spring trip with a win over King's (PA) and losses to Northwestern (MN), Piedmont, and Wheaton.
* The Thunder played Manchester on Thursday night before playing the Fightin' Engineers.
* Freshman Elijah Schilthuis leads the Thunder in singles with eight wins on the season.
* In doubles, Cole Goodman and Drew Dixon lead the team with eight wins.
* After playing Rose-Hulman, Trine opens MIAA play on Saturday the 25th at Albion.

SERIES HISTORY:
* Saturday will be the first-ever match between Goshen and Rose-Hulman.
* The Fightin' Engineers are 4-3 all-time against Trine.
* Rose-Hulman won the last meeting back in 2016.
* The Fightin' Engineers are 3-0 on their home court against the Thunder.
