NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. -- Transylvania University won a pair of doubles matches and two third-set singles matches to pick up a 6-3 men's tennis victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Thursday at Top Seed Tennis Club.
In doubles play, the No. 2 team of
Grant Paradowski and
Andrew Leonard earned an 8-2 victory to keep the Fightin' Engineers within striking distance in the match.
In singles play,
Renato Prado won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 singles and Leonard claimed a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 victory at No. 5. Paradowski and
Rhian Seneviratne took their opponents to a third and deciding set before falling shy.
Transylvania improved to 2-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while Rose-Hulman is now 8-8 and 3-1 in league matches. The Fightin' Engineers host Franklin on Saturday at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center.
