Men's Tennis Hosts Manchester to Open 2023 HCAC Tournament

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team opens the 2023 HCAC Tournament with a home match with the Manchester Spartans. The Fightin' Engineers ended the season as the #3 seed in the conference behind #1 Hanover and #2 Transylvania. The match will begin at 6 PM on Tuesday night.

ROSE-HULMAN MEN'S TENNIS NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman comes into the match at 9-9 on the season and 4-2 in HCAC play.  Highlight wins include MIAA opponents Adrian, Calvin and Albion, along with MSOE.
* The Fightin' Engineers are 4-2 in HCAC matches with wins over Anderson (6-3), Earlham (9-0), Manchester (9-0), and Franklin (5-4).
* Grant Paradowski leads the Fightin' Engineers in single wins with 14.
* Rhian Seneviratne, Owen Reynolds, and Renato Prado have all added double digit singles wins.
* Seneviratne and Reynolds also lead the team in doubles wins with 12. Andrew Leonard has been over .500 at #2 doubles with an 11-10 record.
* Rose-Hulman enters the season with 7 consecutive HCAC Tournament championships dating to 2015.
* The Fightin' Engineers have appeared in 7 straight NCAA Division III men's tennis tournaments entering the 2023 season.
* Rose-Hulman enters the match with a 61-3 record in its last 64 matches against HCAC competition, with two of those losses coming this season.
* Rose-Hulman enters the season under the direction of first-year head coach Greg Couch.  Couch comes to Rose-Hulman with 5 seasons of college head coaching experience at NAIA Roosevelt University in Chicago.
* With a win, Rose-Hulman will advance to the HCAC Semifinals on Saturday at 3 PM against the Transylvania Pioneers. The match would take place at the Top Seed Tennis Center in Nicholasville, Kentucky.

MANCHESTER NOTES:
* Manchester stands 2-15 overall and 1-5 in HCAC play this season. 
* The Spartans have a 6-3 win over Earlham in conference play and also defeated Olivet 8-1 this season.
* Brennan Beachey leads the team with four singles wins this season.
* In doubles, Beachey and Braydon Hoggatt lead the team with two doubles wins.

SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads Manchester 23-4 in a series that began in 1990.
* Rose-Hulman has won 11 consecutive matches over Manchester.
* The Fightin' Engineers have won 22 of their last 23 meetings against Manchester.
