Men's Tennis Travels to Lexington For HCAC Semifinals on Saturday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team will compete in the HCAC Semifinals at Transylvania on Saturday at 3 PM. The match will be in Lexington, Kentucky at the Top Seed Tennis Center. The Fightin' Engineers took down Manchester 9-0 on Tuesday night in the Opening Round of the HCAC Tournament.

ROSE-HULMAN MEN'S TENNIS NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman comes into the match at 10-9 on the season and 4-2 in HCAC play.  Highlight wins include MIAA opponents Adrian, Calvin and Albion, along with MSOE.
* The Fightin' Engineers are 4-2 in HCAC matches with wins over Anderson (6-3), Earlham (9-0), Manchester (9-0), and Franklin (5-4).
* Grant Paradowski leads the Fightin' Engineers in single wins with 15.
* Rhian Seneviratne, Owen Reynolds, and Renato Prado have all added double digit singles wins.
* Seneviratne and Reynolds also lead the team in doubles wins with 13. Andrew Leonard has been over .500 at #2 doubles with an 12-10 record.
* Paradowski and Reynolds were named to First-Team all-HCAC members on Thursday. Seneviratne and Prado were also named to the Honorable Mention all-HCAC team.
* Rose-Hulman enters the season with 7 consecutive HCAC Tournament championships dating to 2015.
* The Fightin' Engineers have appeared in 7 straight NCAA Division III men's tennis tournaments entering the 2023 season.
* Rose-Hulman enters the match with a 62-3 record in its last 65 matches against HCAC competition, with two of those losses coming this season to Transylvania and Hanover.
* Rose-Hulman enters the season under the direction of first-year head coach Greg Couch.  Couch comes to Rose-Hulman with 5 seasons of college head coaching experience at NAIA Roosevelt University in Chicago.
* With a win, Rose-Hulman will advance to the HCAC Championship match on Sunday at 10 AM. The match would take place at the Top Seed Tennis Center in Nicholasville, Kentucky.

TRANSYLVANIA NOTES:
* Transylvania comes into the HCAC Semifinals at 7-9 on the season.
* The Pioneers have won four straight matches since their loss to Hanover. 
* Transylvania and Rose-Hulman have just one common opponent out of conference and that is Greenville.
* Greenville beat the Pioneers 6-3 with Transylvania's wins coming at #2 singles, #4 singles, and #3 doubles.
* Greenville beat Rose-Hulman 7-2 with the wins coming at #1 singles and #6 singles. 

SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads Transylvania 15-14 in the all-time series.
* The Fightin' Engineers fell to the Pioneers earlier this season by a score of 6-3. 
* Rose-Hulman won at #2 doubles with Paradowski and Leonard and at #4 and #5 singles with Prado and Leonard.
* The Fightin' Engineers had won 12 consecutive matches over Transylvania dating back to 2015 prior to their defeat this year.
* Rose-Hulman has beaten the Pioneers in the HCAC Semifinals three consecutive years.
* Chris Kaufmann won the HCAC Player of the Year award and the HCAC Newcomer of the Year award.
* Arjun Gupta and Eli Skaggs joined Kaufmann as first-team all-HCAC members.
