GAME NOTES

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology football team travels to Michigan to take on the Albion Brittons as part of the HCAC-MIAA Challenge.

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman enters this week at 1-1 on the season as they held off a late comeback from Trine to win 30-28.
* The Fightin' Engineers have finished top-2 in the HCAC for four consecutive years, and they were picked to finish top-2 again this year in the preseason poll.
* Jailen Hobbs is the reigning 2-time HCAC Special Teams Player of the Year after leading the league in kickoff return and punt return average last season.
* Hobbs is coming off an All-American season in 2022 as he became the first two-sport All-American in school history in track and football. He was the first HCAC Athlete of the Year in school history in 2022-23.
* Hobbs was named the HCAC Offensive Player of the Week and earned D3football.com Team of the Week honors after putting up 14 catches, 205 yards, and 3 touchdowns in the win over Trine.
* Andrew Toler also earned preseason All-American honors from The CFB Network. He was a 1st-Team all-HCAC punter in 2022.
* Toler was also named the HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week after booming four punts for an average of 49.5 yards per punt. 
* Jeff Sokol is serving in his 13th year at Rose-Hulman with a career record of 78-41 and the top winning percentage in program history at .655. Sokol has led Rose-Hulman to three HCAC titles and NCAA Playoff appearances in 2016 and 2021.
* Daniel Huery earned preseason All-American recognition from D3football.com. He was a 2nd-Team All-Region honoree and a 1st-Team all-HCAC honoree in 2022.
* Four players on the stout Rose-Hulman defense have come up with interceptions this season. Rose-Hulman has forced three turnovers in each of its first two games of the season.
* Riley Lopian leads the Fightin' Engineers defense up front as he has recorded a team-leading 16 tackles and 3 tackles for a loss.
* Rose-Hulman will return to the gridiron on Saturday, September 30. The Fightin' Engineers will host the Anderson Ravens for their 2023 Homecoming football game.

ALBION NOTES:
* Albion enters this week at 2-0 with a 41-20 win over Carthage and a 42-20 win over Bluffton
* The Brittons are coming off a 2nd place finish in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association last season. They entered the final game of the season at a perfect 9-0, but they fell to Alma 34-31 in the MIAA Championship Game
* Albion was picked to finish 4th in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll this year. They finished narrowly behind of Rose-Hulman's last opponent, Trine
* The Brittons lost their head coach in the offseason as he took the head coaching position at NorthWood after leading Albion to a 29-5 record during his tenure.
* Phillip Jones-Price leads the rushing attack for Albion this year, averaging 113 yards per game on the ground.
* Luke Lovell has thrown for over 260 yards per game on the season despite his top receiver, Kye Bristow, averaging just 61 yards per game.
* Albion returns to its home field next week as they host Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 12 PM.

* Albion won the only meeting all-time with Rose-Hulman last year.
* The Brittons won 49-17 in Terre Haute despite it being a 14-10 ball game last in the first half.
