KALAMAZOO, Mich.-- Three Rose-Hulman men's tennis student-athletes have made the trip to Kalamazoo College this weekend to compete in the 2023 ITA Regionals. The team finished two days of competition with some outstanding individual and team performances.
Owen Reynolds and
Rhian Seneviratne started the day off on Friday with doubles competition. They took on the team from Ohio Wesleyan picking up a win with a final score of 8-5. This advanced them to the next round where they took on the team from Case Western Reserve. The Engineers suffered a loss in the second round with a final of 5-8.
Reynolds then went on to compete in the singles portion of the competition. He was able to claim a win over Otterbein College's Jake Chilcote 5-7, 6-2, 10-8. This advanced him to the next round where he fell short to Anmay Devaraj from Case Western Reserve 0-6, 2-6.
Grant Paradowski also competed in the singles portion of the competition suffering a loss to DePauw University's Jacob Louiselle 2-6, 2-6. Paradowski went on to compete in the consolation bracket on the second day of the tournament earning a win against Gustavo Assumpcao from Hanover College 6-1, 6-1.
After multiple withdraws by opponents, Paradowski advanced to the consolation semifinal against Kasper Olofsson from Adrian where he picked up a win in a competitive match 6-7 (7-2), 6-2, 10-6. Paradowski was named the consolation singles champion after defeating Arturo Mendoza from Andreson University 2-6, 6-4, 10-3.
The men's tennis team will return to action facing Illinois Tech on the road on Sunday, 1/28.
