Women's Volleyball Opens HCAC Season at #15 Transylvania

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's volleyball team opens HCAC play this weekend as they travel to Lexington, Kentucky to take on the #15 Transylvania Pioneers at 3 PM on Saturday.

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman comes into the weekend at 10-7 on the season.
* The Fightin' Engineers had their five-game win streak snapped on Tuesday with a loss to DePauw.
* Lily Ebright picked up where she left off in 2022 by winning the HCAC Defensive Player of the Week award in three consecutive weeks and for the seventh time in the last 11 weeks dating back to last year. She recorded 109 digs in fourth matches with a whopping 9.08 digs per set in those matches. She also had two matches with over 12 digs per set.
* Ebright, the defending HCAC Defensive Player of the Year, was leading every player in all divisions of the NCAA in digs per set prior to this weekend's games. She has recorded 412 digs with 6.87 digs per set this season.
* Allie Fults also helped lead the defense with outstanding blocking efforts. Fults has recorded 57 blocks this season to lead the big Rose-Hulman front line. Fults also had 47 kills with a hitting percentage over .400 in last week's games.
* Kate Wood and Jillian Gregg lead the offensive attack for the Fightin' Engineers. Wood has totaled 159 kills with a .231 hitting percentage on the year. Gregg has 378 assists and 6.30 assists per set as well as adding 23 service aces.
* The Fightin' Engineers will return to action next Saturday at 1 PM at #18 Mount St. Joseph.

#15 TRANSYLVANIA NOTES:
* Transylvania comes into the season at 11-5 on the season.
* The Pioneers have played 7 top-25 teams this season, and they are 2-5 in those games with wins over #7 Wash U and #24 Ohio Northern.
* Transylvania won three consecutive matches coming into this weekend with wins over Otterbein, Ohio Northern, and Wittenberg.
* Cate Scheper, Kayden Holcomb, and Isabella Myers ave all totaled over 150 kills on the season for the Pioneers.
* Grace Ward has recorded 628 assists on the year and 28 service aces.
* Holcomb leads the defense with 43 blocks on the season.
* The Pioneers will return to the court on Wednesday as they host Asbury University at 7 PM.

SERIES NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series over Transylvania 13-12.
* The Fightin' Engineers have dropped six straight matches to the Pioneers, and they have not won a set in any of those matches.
* Prior to the six match losing streak, the Fightin' Engineers beat Transylvania eight consecutive times.
