TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology football team takes their first road trip of the season to Angola, Indiana to take on the Trine Thunder. The game will be under the lights at 7 PM on Saturday.
ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman comes into the game on the heels of a 33-21 loss to DePauw last weekend.
* Rose-Hulman has finished top-2 in the HCAC for four consecutive years, and they were picked to finish top-2 again this year in the preseason poll.

Jeff Sokol is serving in his 13th year at Rose-Hulman with a career record of 77-41 and the top winning percentage in program history at .653. Sokol has led Rose-Hulman to three HCAC titles and NCAA Playoff appearances in 2016 and 2021.
*
Daniel Huery earned preseason All-American recognition from D3football.com. He was a 2nd-Team All-Region honoree and a 1st-Team all-HCAC honoree in 2022.
* Huery led the team in receiving with 13 catches for 85 yards in Saturday's loss.
*
Andrew Toler also earned preseason All-American honors from The CFB Network. He was a 1st-Team all-HCAC punter in 2022.
* Toler showed off his leg on Saturday with five punts for an average of 45.8 yards including a 62-yard bomb and two punts inside the DePauw 12-yard line.
*
Jailen Hobbs is the reigning 2-time HCAC Special Teams Player of the Year after leading the league in kickoff return and punt return average last season.
* Hobbs is coming off an All-American season in 2022 as he became the first two-sport All-American in school history in track and football. He was the first HCAC Athlete of the Year in school history in 2022-23.

Adam Field led the Rose-Hulman defensive attack as he added 8 tackles and his first career interception.
Kayden Pierre led the team with 11 tackles.
* Rose-Hulman will return to the gridiron on Saturday, September 16 at Albion at 12 PM.
TRINE NOTES:
* Trine was picked to finish 3rd in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll this year. They finished narrowly ahead of Rose-Hulman's next opponent, Albion
* Trine beat Anderson 61-0 in week one. The Thunder outgained the Ravens 444149, and they averaged nearly six yards per carry en route to 224 rushing yards. Five different players recorded rushing touchdowns in the season opener.
* Four All-MIAA players from last season return to lead the Thunder in 2023. Seniors Kale Lawson and Jackson Linback both return for a fifth season after making appearances on first-team All-MIAA. Defensively, seniors Jamon Gibson and Jacob Jackson both return to the team. Gibson was a first-team member while Jackson appeared on the second-team.
* Senior Alex Price also returns after serving as starting quarterback for the team in 2022. Price led the team with over 2,000 yards passing and with 391 yards rushing.
* Marques Tagliaferri and Jaylin Page are the two other returning starters for the defense. Page led the team in pass defense with six breakups from his spot at corner. Tagliaferri finished with two interceptions along with the fifth most tackles on the team (46 total).
* Trine returns to their home field next weekend as they host their third of four HCAC opponents, the Franklin Grizzlies.
SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman and Trine are currently tied 1-1 in the all-time series.
* The Fightin' Engineers won the first-ever meeting in 2021, 31-30, after stopping a Trine two-point conversion in the final two minutes of the game.
* Trine won last year's meeting in Terre Haute 24-23 after coming back from down 23-3 at the half.
* The Thunder have outscored Rose-Hulman 27-0 in the fourth quarter in the last two meetings.
