Men's Tennis Opens Spring Season at Illinois Tech on Sunday at 4 PM CT

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis travels to Chicago to take on Illinois Tech in the opening match of the 2024 spring season on Sunday at 4 PM CT. The match will take place at the XS Center in Chicago rather than on the campus of Illinois Tech.

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman comes in at 2-0 after a pair of wins over Trine in the fall season.
Grant Paradowski leads the Fightin' Engineers in singles wins this season at 6-2. Owen Reynolds and freshman Ervin Perkowski have each picked up three wins on the year.
* Paradowski and Reynolds were named First-Team All-HCAC honores in 2022-23.
* A pair of freshman including Dale Loveland and Perkowski pace the team in doubles wins this season with three.
* Rose-Hulman had its streak of seven consecutive HCAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances snapped last year after falling in the HCAC Semifinals. They finished the 2022-23 season at 10-10 with a 4-2 record in the HCAC.
* The Fightin' Engineers will return to the court on February 17 as they host the Wittenberg Tigers at 1 PM at the Terre Haute Bubble.

ILLINOIS TECH NOTES:
* Illinois Tech will open their spring season with this match.
* The Scarlet Hawks competed in the Firebird Challenge at Carthage in the fall, but they did not play any other matches in the fall.
* Illinois Tech is coming off a 9-13 season that featured a run to the NACC Championship match, but they fell to MSOE 5-3 in the title match. 
* After this match, Illinois Tech will hit the road and travel to North Central to take on the Cardinals on February 3.

SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series 2-0 over Illinois Tech.
* The Fightin' Engineers took down the Scarlet Hawks 9-0 in their lone regular season match in 2018.
* In 2019, the two teams met in the NCAA Tournament, and Rose-Hulman came away with a 5-1 victory.
