Women's Volleyball Travels to Face Transylvania Saturday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman women's volleyball team is set to begin conference play hosting Berea College on Saturday, October 5 at 11 AM.

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman enters the match against the Pioneers with a record of 8-11 overall and 1-0 in the HCAC. 
* The Fightin' Engineers come off an impressive win in their HCAC opener defeating Berea on Homecoming 3-1. 
* Lily Ebright earned HCAC Athlete of the Week for breaking the school record for digs in a single match in the game against Berea with 58 digs.
* This is the fourth most digs in a single match since the NCAA began tracking individual match records. 
* Ebright leads all of NCAA Division III with 549 total digs and 7.42 digs per set. 
* Hannah Bergfeld became the sixth person in school history to record a triple-double in a match earlier this season. 
* Bergfeld has now totaled three triple-doubles on the year in the matches against Olivet, Trine, and Berea.
* She currently leads the HCAC and ranks fourth in all of NCAA Division III with three triple-doubles this season.
* Desiree Beverley has been the impact maker offensively leading the team with 185 kills averaging 2.50 kills per set.
* Jillian Gregg has also been a playmaker on offense with 165 kills averaging 2.23 kills per set. 
* Amaya Harrell has been a staple on the defense leading the team and ranking fifth in the conference with 51 blocks this season. 
* The Fightin' Engineers have been selected to finish fifth in this year's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll receiving 46 points. 
* Rose-Hulman finished in sixth place in the conference last season with a 15-14 record overall and a 4-5 conference record. 
* The squad returns two all-conference players from last year including Lily Ebright and Jillian Gregg.
* Ebright has been named the HCAC Defensive Player of the Year in the last two seasons. 
* After traveling to Transylvania, Rose-Hulman will travel to face #9 WashU on Wednesday, October 16 at 7 PM CT. 

TRANSYLVANIA NOTES:
* Transylvania stands at 10-7 overall and 1-0 in the HCAC so far this season. 
* The Pioneers will face Spalding on Wednesday, October 9 before playing the Fightin' Engineers on Saturday. 
* The team comes off a conference win over Bluffton with a final score of 3-0.
* The Pioneers lead the HCAC this season with 13.05 kills per set and a team-hitting percentage of .238.
* Cate Scheper leads the team with 167 kills averaging 2.74 kills per set.
* Grace Ward is the team's assist leader with 524 assists averaging 8.59 assists per set. 
* The team is led defensively by Ava Beltsos totaling 228 digs averaging 3.74 digs per set. 
* Transylvania is currently receiving votes in the top-25 poll and has been selected to win the HCAC in the preseason poll receiving 80 points and eight first-place votes.
* After hosting Rose-Hulman, the Pioneers will travel to take on Franklin on Saturday, October 19 at 2 PM. 

TRANSYLVANIA SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman trails in the all-time series between both teams with a record of 13-14 against the Pioneers. 
* Transylvania has won the last eight matches against the Fightin' Engineers dating back to the 2019 season.
* Rose-Hulman has a record of 5-8 on the road against the Pioneers.
