TEAM RESULTS
DESTIN, Fla. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's golf team brought home a top-20 finish at the Golfweek October Classic in Destin, Florida. In a field with 15 of the top-25 teams in the country, Rose-Hulman was able to take down a pair of ranked teams including #29 Chapman and #42 UW-Whitewater. They also finished just two strokes behind a pair of other ranked teams including #29 Sewanee and #45 Lynchburg.
Kate Herod led the Fightin' Engineers with three sub-80 rounds at 77, 78, and 74. Her final round 74 and her 54-hole score of 229 bested her previous career-bests as a Fightin' Engineer by 3 and 15 shots respectively. Herod finished in 45th place in a talented field of players.
Gwen Anderson also rounded out a career-best tournament for the first-year Fightin' Engineer. Anderson ripped off a career-best round of 76 in the final round to finish 21-over par and in a tie for 75th place. Her 36-hole score of 161 and 54-hole score of 237 also mark career-lows.
Erin Nolan shot her career-low score in the opening round with a 2-over 74. She would finish the tournament +27 in 98th place.
Rose-Hulman finished the tournament ranked 5th overall in par-3 scoring at 8-over par as a team, just an average of 0.13 strokes over par. Anderson and Nolan each finished in 8th place in par-3 scoring at 1-under par for the tournament.
The Golfweek October Classic bring an end to the 2024 fall season for the Fightin' Engineers. The team will return to the course in the spring for the second half of their 2024-25 season.
