Women's Volleyball Travels to Take on #8 WashU Wednesday

GAME NOTES

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman women's volleyball team will travel to take on the #8 WashU Bears on Wednesday, October 16 at 7 PM CT. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman enters the match against #8 WashU with a record of 8-12 overall and 1-1 in the HCAC.
* The Fightin' Engineers come off a loss to Transylvania on Saturday with a final score of 3-0. 
Lily Ebright set the school record for digs in a single match in the game against Berea earlier this season with 58 digs.
* This is the fourth most digs in a single match since the NCAA began tracking individual match records. 
* Ebright leads all of NCAA Division III with 566 total digs and 7.35 digs per set. 
Hannah Bergfeld became the sixth person in school history to record a triple-double in a match earlier this season. 
* Bergfeld has now totaled three triple-doubles on the year in the matches against Olivet, Trine, and Berea.
* She currently leads the HCAC and ranks fifth in all of NCAA Division III with three triple-doubles this season.
Desiree Beverley has been the impact maker offensively leading the team with 191 kills averaging 2.48 kills per set.
Jillian Gregg has also been a playmaker on offense with 169 kills averaging 2.19 kills per set. 
Amaya Harrell has been a staple on the defense leading the team and ranking fifth in the conference with 53 blocks this season. 
* The Fightin' Engineers have been selected to finish fifth in this year's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll receiving 46 points. 
* Rose-Hulman finished in sixth place in the conference last season with a 15-14 record overall and a 4-5 conference record. 
* The squad returns two all-conference players from last year including Lily Ebright and Jillian Gregg.
* Ebright has been named the HCAC Defensive Player of the Year in the last two seasons. 
* After traveling to WashU, Rose-Hulman will return to conference play hosting Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, October 19 at 5 PM. 

#8 WASHU NOTES:
* The Bears enter the midweek match against Rose-Hulman with a record of 18-4 overall and 3-2 in the UAA.
* The team comes off a win over #23 New York University with a final score of 3-1. 
* WashU currently ranks #8 in the country in the latest coaches poll from the AVCA. 
* Jasmine Sells leads the team with 234 kills averaging 3.08 kills per set. 
* Leah Oyewole is another offensive weapon for the Bears totaling 201 kills averaging 2.72 kills per set. 
* Elise Gilroy leads the defense with 332 digs averaging 4.10 digs per set. 
* Zoe Foster has been a force at the net defensively with 67 blocks averaging .88 blocks per set. 
* After hosting Rose-Hulman, WashU will host a tri-match against North Park and Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday, October 19 at 10:30 AM CT and 3:30 PM CT. 

WASHU SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman trails in the all-time series between both teams with a record of 0-6 against WashU.
* The Bears have won every meeting against Rose-Hulman dating back to the 1999 season.
* The teams met in the 2021 season with WashU earning the sweep with a score of 3-0.
