Volleyball Returns Home for HCAC Battle with Mt. St. Joseph on Saturday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman women's volleyball team returns home to host Mount St. Joseph University in HCAC action for National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Saturday, October 19 at 5 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman enters the match against #8 WashU with a record of 8-12 overall and 1-1 in the HCAC.
* The Fightin' Engineers come off a tough loss to the #8 WashU Bears with a final score of 3-0.
Lily Ebright set the school record for digs in a single match earlier this season in the match against Berea with 58 digs.
* This is the fourth most digs in a single match since the NCAA began tracking individual match records. 
* Ebright leads all of NCAA Division III with 584 total digs and 7.30 digs per set. 
Hannah Bergfeld became the sixth person in school history to record a triple-double in a match earlier this season. 
* Bergfeld has now totaled three triple-doubles on the year in the matches against Olivet, Trine, and Berea.
* She currently leads the HCAC and ranks fifth in all of NCAA Division III with three triple-doubles this season.
Desiree Beverley has been the impact maker offensively leading the team with 199 kills averaging 2.49 kills per set.
Jillian Gregg has also been a playmaker on offense with 181 kills averaging 2.26 kills per set. 
Amaya Harrell has been a staple on the defense leading the team and ranking sixth in the conference with 54 blocks this season. 
* The Fightin' Engineers have been selected to finish fifth in this year's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll receiving 46 points. 
* Rose-Hulman finished in sixth place in the conference last season with a 15-14 record overall and a 4-5 conference record. 
* The squad returns two all-conference players from last year including Lily Ebright and Jillian Gregg.
* Ebright has been named the HCAC Defensive Player of the Year in the last two seasons. 
* After hosting Mount St. Joseph, the Fightin' Engineers will travel to take on Hanover on Wednesday, October 23 at 7 PM. 

MOUNT ST. JOSEPH NOTES:
* Mount St.Joseph enters the weekend with a record of 7-11 overall and 2-0 in the HCAC.
* The Lions come off a loss to Calvin with a final score of 3-0. 
* Emma SIcking leads the team in kills with 231 averaging 3.30 kills per set. 
* Aubrey Miranda is another offensive weapon for the Lions with 193 kills averaging 2.61 kills per set. 
* Grace Wilking leads the defense with 314 digs and an average of 4.24 digs per set. 
* Sydney Doty has been a force at the net leading the team with 42 blocks this season. 
* The Lions have been picked to finish second in the preseason coaches poll receiving 73 points and two first-place votes. 
* The team won the HCAC regular season title last season before falling to Transylvania in the HCAC Championship with a final of 3-1. 
* After facing Rose-Hulman, MSJ will continue conference play traveling to Transylvania on Wednesday, October

* Rose-Hulman trails in the all-time series against Mount St. Joseph with a record of 5-15 overall against the Lions. 
* The Fightin' Engineers have lost the last five matches against MSJ dating back to the 2019 season. 
* The Lions defeated Rose-Hulman last season with a final score of 3-0.
* Rose-Hulman has a record of 2-6 all-time when hosting Mount St. Joseph.
