Football Travels to Face Bluffton Beavers on Saturday

GAME NOTES

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers football team will travel to take on Bluffton University on Saturday, October 26 at 12 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers enter the weekend with a record of 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the HCAC.
* The team comes off an exciting victory after a last-minute rushing touchdown by Jay Smith earned the team a 29-25 win over Defiance. 
* Marshall Koch was named the HCAC Defensive Athlete of the Week and a member of the D3football.com Team of the Week for his performance against Defiance. 
* Koch totaled 3.5 sacks against the Yellow Jackets which is the most for a Fightin' Engineer in a single game since 2017. 
* He also totaled nine tackles and a forced fumble. 
Rick Easterwood has led the offense under center ranking second in the conference with a 63.0% completion percentage.
* Easterwood has totaled 1222 yards through the air and eight touchdown passes so far this season.
Jay Smith is the Fightin' Engineers leading rusher leading the conference with 653 yards rushing and 108.83 yards per game. 
* Kolton Nanko leads the receiving core with 392 yards averaging 15.68 yards per catch and 65.33 yards per game. 
Daniel Huery has also been a strong receiver for the Fightin' Engineers with 49 catches for 375 yards and three touchdowns.
* The Fightin' Engineers are led defensively by Adam Field totaling 43.0 tackles, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
Andrew Toler has been productive all season on special teams leading the conference and all of NCAA Division III averaging 48.3 yards per punt. 
* Rose-Hulman has been selected to finish third in the HCAC preseason poll receiving 25 points.
* The team finished last season with a record of 7-3 overall and 6-1 in the HCAC.
* The Fightin' Engineers finished second in the HCAC after falling to Mount St. Joseph in the final game of the season.
* The squad returns eight All-Conference student-athletes from last year's team including Wyatt BellCameron DorseyAdam FieldDaniel HueryBen KleinDylan PageKyle Rehberg, and Andrew Toler.
* All of the returning All-Conference players with additions of Rick Easterwood, Augustus Shryock, and Jay Smith have been named as Players to Watch by the HCAC this season.
* Senior Punter Andrew Toler has been named a 1st Team Preseason All-American by D3football.com.
* Toler earned a pair of All-American honors last season ranking third in all of Division III with an average of 44.4 yards per punt last season. 
Jeff Sokol is serving in his 14th year at Rose-Hulman with a career record of 84-43. Sokol has led Rose-Hulman to three HCAC titles and two NCAA Playoff appearances in 2016 and 2021.
* After facing Bluffton, the Fightin' Engineers will return home to host Manchester for Senior Day in their final home game of the season on Saturday, November 2 at 1:30 PM. 

BLUFFTON NOTES:
* Bluffton enters the weekend with a record of 2-4 overall and 2-1 in the HCAC. 
* The team comes off a loss to Mount St. Joseph University with a final score of 63-27. 
* Evan Unruh leads the team under center with 1106 passing yards and 12 passing touchdowns. 
* Kainan Stoner is the Beavers leading rusher with 408 yards and four touchdowns this season. 
* Niegel Payne is the team's top receiver with 31 catches for 458 yards and five touchdowns. 
* Ethan Beringer has also been productive with 27 catches for 445 yards and four touchdown catches. 
* Nick Perry has set the tone for the defense this season with a team-high 31 tackles and 6.0 tackles for loss. 
* Bluffton has been selected to finish fifth in the HCAC preseason poll receiving 19 points. 
* After facing Rose-Hulman, Bluffton will return to action traveling to play Hanover on Saturday, November 2 at 1:30 PM. 

SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series between both teams with a record of 17-3 against the Beavers.
* The Fightin' Engineers have won the last nine games against Bluffton dating back to the 2015 season. 
* The team defeated Bluffton last season with a final score of 52-28. 
* Rose-Hulman has an all-time record of 9-1 on the road when traveling to face the Beavers.
