Men's Soccer Clinches HCAC Title with Dominating Senior Day Performance

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team clinched their eleventh HCAC Regular Season Championship and fifth in the last six years with a 7-0 victory over Mount St. Joseph on Senior Day.

The Fightin' Engineers opened the scoring in the 12th minute as Cameron Hannah broke free for a one-on-one with the keeper and slotted home the opening goal off an assist from Tyler Eldridge.

Hannah doubled the team's lead just five minutes later as Chase Kedzior slipped a pass through to Elijah Hardersen who found the head of Hannah on a cross. The goal for Hannah gave the freshman his seventh goal of the year and his third brace of his freshman campaign.

In the 29th minute, Rose-Hulman extended their lead to three as Julius Salinas curled a free kick from the top of the box around the wall and found the back of the net for a 3-0 lead.

In the 42nd minute, the Fightin' Engineers continued their scoring outburst as Ryan Shapiro took advantage of a poor pass at the top of their own 18-yard box, and he ripped a right-footed shot past a diving keeper for a 4-0 lead.

Then, just 30 seconds later, Rose-Hulman made it five as Shapiro crossed one into the middle to Carson Manes who found Hardersen in the six for his first career goal on Senior Day.

In the second half, Rose-Hulman added two more goals from seniors Gabe Kruer and Jimmy Hall to pull off the 7-0 victory. Oliver Fila assisted on both goals, and Hall also added an assist on the goal for Kruer.

Shapiro led the team with 7 shots and 4 shots on goal. Eli Miller also added 4 shots in the win.

John Biederstedt and Michael Trinh split time in goal with each playing 45 minutes. Biederstedt made the lone save as Rose-Hulman outshot Mount St. Joseph 30-1.

With the win, the Fightin' Engineers improve to 9-4-3 overall and 7-0-1 in the HCAC. They return to action on Tuesday, October 29 at 7 PM as they host the Manchester Spartans in the regular season finale.
