Volleyball Opens HCAC Play Hosting Berea Saturday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman women's volleyball team is set to begin conference play hosting Berea College on Saturday, October 5 at 11 AM.

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman enters their HCAC opener with a record of 7-11 so far this season.
* The team comes off a 2-1 finish in their home invitational last weekend picking up wins over Illinois College 3-0 and Saint Mary's (IN) 3-0.
* Lily Ebright has been a standout defensively leading all of NCAA DIII with 491 digs and an average of 7.01 digs per set.
* Hannah Bergfeld became the sixth person in school history to record a triple-double in a match earlier this season. 
* Bergfeld recorded a triple-double against Olivet with 10 kills, 22 assists, and 14 digs, and against Trine with 10 kills, 27 assists, and 17 digs. 
* She currently leads the HCAC and ranks fourth in all of NCAA Division III with two triple-doubles this season.
* Desiree Beverley has been the impact maker offensively leading the team with 177 kills averaging 2.53 kills per set.
* Jillian Gregg has also been a playmaker on offense with 161 kills averaging 2.30 kills per set. 
* Amaya Harrell has been a staple on the defense leading the team and ranking sixth in the conference with 42 blocks this season. 
* The Fightin' Engineers have been selected to finish fifth in this year's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll receiving 46 points. 
* Rose-Hulman finished in sixth place in the conference last season with a 15-14 record overall and a 4-5 conference record. 
* The squad returns two all-conference players from last year including Lily Ebright and Jillian Gregg.
* Ebright has been named the HCAC Defensive Player of the Year in the last two seasons. 
* After Berea, Rose-Hulman will continue conference play traveling to face #24 Transylvania on Saturday, October 12 at 1 PM. 

BEREA NOTES:
* Berea enters their match up with Rose-Hulman with a record of 4-11 overall this season.
* The team will face Covenant College on Thursday before taking on the Fightin' Engineers.
* Berea is led by Deanna De La Torre totaling 163 kills averaging 3.08 kills per set and 202 digs with 3.81 digs per set.
* Idymel Ayala Rivera is the team's assist leader with 375 averaging 6.70 assists per set.
* Nashaliz Garcia has been a difference-maker defensively with a team-high 28 blocks. 
* After facing Rose-Hulman, Berea will continue conference play traveling to face Hanover College on Saturday, October 12 at 1 PM. 

BEREA SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series between both teams with a record of 1-0 against Berea.
* Both teams have only met once in program history with Rose-Hulman earning the win during 2016 with a final score of 3-0.
