TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers earned their second straight win defeating Wabash College with a final score of 68-60 on Monday night. The team improves to 2-2 overall this season.
The Fightin' Engineers had four players reach double figures in scoring with
Miles McGowen and
Daniel Savovic leading the way with 14 points each.
Joey Schmitz and
Kobe Stoudemire followed with 12 points each on the night. McGowen led the team on the boards recording nine rebounds just one shy of a double-double.
The game proved to be an instant classic with seven lead changes in a competitive contest. After being down by as much as eight points in the first half, Rose-Hulman battled back to cut the deficit to one after a three-pointer by Schmitz made the score 36-35 at the halftime break.Â
The Fightin' Engineers took the lead in the second half on a made three by
Cole Pride with 15:15 left in the game to make the score 45-43. The team would not give up the lead for the remainder of the contest.Â
Wabash threatened the lead on a made layup with 2:48 left to cut the deficit to 61-59. The Fightin' Engineers went on to finish the game on a 7-1 run with a dagger by Stoudemire for three in the final minute to clinch the win.Â
The Fightin' Engineers finished the game shooting 50% from the field, 50% from beyond the arc, and 92.9% from the charity stripe.Â
Rose-Hulman will return to action on the road facing Manchester on Wednesday, December 4 at 7:30 PM to start conference play.Â
