Women's Basketball Set to Compete in Midwest Challenge This Weekend

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Fightin' Engineers women's basketball team will return to action by competing in the Midwest Challenge this weekend. The Fightin' Engineers will begin the tournament facing the host #11 WashU on Saturday, November 30 at 6 PM CT. They will go on to face either DePauw or #8 Illinois Wesleyan on Sunday, December 1. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman stands at 1-2 overall this season after picking up their first win of the year against Principia with a final score of 75-63.
* Jamie Baum has been the star for Rose-Hulman this year leading the team with 24.0 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per game.
* She also leads the team shooting 52.4% from the field, 53.3% from beyond the arc, and 83.3% from the free throw line. 
* Baum has also been the defensive standout totaling seven steals and three blocks this year. 
* Julia Meyer (13.7) and Emma Schipp (10.7) have also been productive scorers for Rose-Hulman averaging double figures in scoring. 
* Schipp (7.7) and Meyer (7.0) have also been active on the boards ranking second and third on the team in rebounds per game. 
* The Fightin' Engineers have been picked to finish sixth in the HCAC preseason poll receiving 46 points. 
* The team finished last season with a record of 12-14 overall and 9-9 in the HCAC. 
* Rose-Hulman advanced to the HCAC Tournament and fell to Franklin in the first round with a final score of 73-69. 
Jamie Baum earned 1st-Team all-HCAC honors and Grace Roland was named the HCAC Newcomer of the Year last season.
* Both Baum and Roland along with CK Gallegos RodriguezAnaya Hawkins, and Sophia Reese have been named Players to Watch by the HCAC for the upcoming season.
* The team adds seven new faces to the team this year including Reagan LorenzenJulia MeyerEmma SchippMadi D'EliaSierra SnowdenKatelyn Fennell, and Anaya Hawkins.
* Depending on the outcome of their game against #11 WashU, the Fightin' Engineers will face the winner or loser of the game between DePauw and #8 Illinois Wesleyan on Sunday, December 1 at 2 PM or 4 PM CT. 

#11 WASHU NOTES:
* The Bears enter the weekend with a record of 4-0 to start the season. 
* The team comes off a win against Wisconsin Lutheran in the McWilliams Classic with a final score of 66-47. 
* WashU is led by Lexy Harris averaging a double-double with 20.5 points per game and 12.3 rebounds per game this season. 
* Harris also leads the team in field goal percentage at 66.7% and free throw percentage at 62.5%.
* Jessica Brooks (15.3) and Sidney Rogers (11.8) also average double figures in scoring.
* Depending on the outcome of their game against Rose-Hulman, the Bears will face the winner or loser of the game between DePauw and #8 Illinois Wesleyan on Sunday, December 1 at 2 PM or 4 PM CT. 

DEPAUW NOTES:
* The Tigers open the weekend facing #8 Illinois Wesleyan in the first game of the Midwest Challenge at 4 PM CT. 
* The team stands at 2-2 overall this season coming off a win over Albion on Tuesday with a final score of 60-50. 
* DePauw is led by Ava Hassel averaging 12.0 points per game this season.
* Hassel has also made and impact on defense with a team-high 11 steals. 
* Diana Burgher leads the team on the boards averaging 7.3 rebounds per game. 
* After facing IWU, DePauw will either face #11 WashU or Rose-Hulman on Sunday, December 1. 

#8 ILLINOIS WESLEYAN NOTES:
* Illinois Wesleyan is undefeated on the season at 4-0 coming off a win over Wisconsin-Whitewater 84-78. 
* The Titans have picked up quality wins this season over two ranked teams in Wisconsin-Whitewater and Hope. 
* The Titans have four players averaging double figures in scoring let by Kate Palmer averaging 15.8 points per game. 
* Ava Bardic is another standout scorer for IWU with 15.3 points per game.
* Lauren Huber is the team's leading rebounder averaging 8.3 rebounds per game. 
* Illinois Wesleyan will face either #11 WashU or Rose-Hulman depending on the results of Saturday's game.
