Women's Soccer Nipped in Overtime in HCAC Championship Game

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team came up just short in the HCAC Championship match on Saturday night with a 1-0 loss to Mount St. Joseph in overtime.

The Fightin' Engineers controlled the first half of action with several scoring chances as they outshot the Lions 7-4, but neither team was able to find the back of the net.

In the second half, the Lions had several chances, outshooting Rose-Hulman 10-1, but they were only able to record one shot on goal.

In overtime, the Lions ripped a shot from 30 yards out that Lily Dore was able to tip up and off the crossbar, but a Mount St. Joseph attacker pounced on the rebound and scored the winner.

Kiana Martin led the Fightin' Engineers with 2 shots in the loss, and Martin, Jayden Gibson, and Kyra Hicks had the lone shots on goal.

With the loss, Rose-Hulman wraps up their season at 9-8-1 and just one game shy of their ultimate goal.
