CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team came up just short in the HCAC Championship match on Saturday night with a 1-0 loss to Mount St. Joseph in overtime.
The Fightin' Engineers controlled the first half of action with several scoring chances as they outshot the Lions 7-4, but neither team was able to find the back of the net.
In the second half, the Lions had several chances, outshooting Rose-Hulman 10-1, but they were only able to record one shot on goal.
In overtime, the Lions ripped a shot from 30 yards out that
Lily Dore was able to tip up and off the crossbar, but a Mount St. Joseph attacker pounced on the rebound and scored the winner.
Kiana Martin led the Fightin' Engineers with 2 shots in the loss, and Martin,
Jayden Gibson, and
Kyra Hicks had the lone shots on goal.
With the loss, Rose-Hulman wraps up their season at 9-8-1 and just one game shy of their ultimate goal.Â
