TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team rode a hot shooting performance to an 83-67 victory over the Anderson Ravens on Saturday afternoon.
The Fightin' Engineers came out of the locker room on fire as they rode a 24-1 run over an 8:34 span in the first half to cruise to a 34-12 lead over the Ravens, and they would enter the halftime locker room with a 46-29 lead.
In the third quarter, the Ravens were able to cut the lead to eight points multiple times, but they couldn't get any closer as Rose-Hulman extneded their lead to 12 at the end of the third.
Rose-Hulman put the game on lockdown with a 13-2 run in the fourth quarter to stretch the lead to 20, and they would roll to an 83-67 victory.
Jamie Baum led the team with 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals, and she also added 3 assists.
Sophia Reese was the only other Fightin' Engineer in double figures with 16 points in the win.
Emma Schipp also starred on the offensive end of the floor with 9 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds.
Julia Meyer added 8 points, and
CK Gallegos-Rodriguez and
Emilia Diaz also scored seven for Rose-Hulman.
With the win, the Fightin' Engineers improve to 4-5 on the season and 2-1 in the HCAC. The team returns to action on Wednesday, December 18 for a mid-week home matchup with the Earlham Quakers.
