Women's Basketball Travels to Face Spalding Friday Night

GAME NOTES

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team will travel to take on Spalding University on Friday, December 20 at 7 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman stands atop the HCAC in a four-way tie for first place with a record of 5-5 overall and 3-1 in the HCAC.
* The team has won their last three games defeating Earlham 74-59, Anderson 83-67, and Greenville 63-54.
* Katelyn Fennell was the standout in the game against Earlham Wednesday night finishing with a career-high 18 points. 
Jamie Baum has been the star for Rose-Hulman this year, leading the team with 18.9 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game. She is also shooting 43.6% from beyond the arc and totaling 27 steals and 16 blocks, leading the team in all three categories.
* Baum was named the HCAC Player of the Week last week after averaging 23.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 2.5 blocks, and 2.5 assists en route to a 2-0 week for Rose-Hulman.
* She also received national recognition, being named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for her performances. 
Emma Schipp and Sophia Reese have also been productive scorers, averaging 9.2 and 8.9 points per game. 
* Schipp also ranks second on the team with 5.8 rebounds per game. 
* The Fightin' Engineers were picked to finish sixth in the HCAC preseason coaches poll, receiving 46 poll points. 
Jamie Baum earned 1st-team all-HCAC honors, and Grace Roland was named the HCAC Newcomer of the Year last season.
* After traveling to Spalding, Rose-Hulman will return to action after winter break traveling to Berea on Saturday, January 4 at 1 PM. 

SPALDING NOTES:
* Spalding enters the weekend with a record of 2-6 overall and 1-2 in the SLIAC.
* The team comes off a conference win over Fontbonne with a final score of 59-34.
* Sydney Raque leads the team averaging 11.0 points per game this season.
* Zaneiya Batiste is another standout with a team-high 14.8 rebounds per game while also averaging 9.8 points per game. 
* Batiste also leads the team with 14 steals and 11 blocks on the year. 
* After facing Rose-Hulman, Spalding will return to action hosting Asbury on Monday, December 30 at 4 PM. 

SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series between both teams with a record of 3-0 against Spalding.
* The team defeated Spalding with scores of 65-48 in 2023, 52-49 in 2012, and 78-66 in 2006.
